The Liberals WA Listening Tour has hit the ground running for 2026, this time in beautiful Esperance!
Together with Steve Martin MLC and local member Peter Rundle MLA, we met with local businesses, community and agri-business groups, local Government, as well as the Esperance Liberal Branch.
A common theme we heard from locals is that they feel ignored by WA Labor, and that was especially true at Esperance Senior High School.
With the most maintenance defects out of any school in the State, you would think that the WA Government would make it a priority to send much needed funds their way so students there receive the same standard of facilities as students in the Perth area.
Instead, the Government has left Esperance SHS to fend for itself, ignoring the requests from the Shire and the School Community for urgent upgrades.
We wrote to the Education Minister requesting a visit to the school so we could see the issues there with our own eyes – that request was denied.
This is WA’s Government. They would rather hide their failures from accountability, than accept any responsibility. And they’ll charge ahead with a racetrack, a rugby team and film studios, but they’ll leave schools like ESHS behind.
You can hear more about our experience in Esperance in this video.
In 2026, we will keep exposing WA Labor for their countless failures and wrong priorities, and will listen to Western Australians where Labor would rather keep their head in the sand.
