Labor's spending spree is costing WA households

Friends,

Last week, West Australians were hit with another interest rate rise. For households already stretched by the cost of groceries, power, insurance, rent, and just about everything else, it was more bad news.

But while families are being told to tighten their belts, the Cook Labor Government is doing the exact opposite.

The 2025-26 Annual Report on State Finances, released last week, shows general government spending rose by $2.53 billion, or 5.5 per cent, which comes on top of an 11 per cent surge the year before. Recurrent spending has grown by around $7 billion in just two years.

When a government recklessly pours billions more into the economy year after year, it adds pressure on prices. And West Australians are feeling it, with our state's inflation now at 4.3 per cent, above the national average.

Make no mistake, this is a Government that has lost control of its spending, and it is West Australian families who are paying for it, through higher prices, higher taxes and higher interest rates.

West Australians deserve a government that respects their money, spends it carefully and delivers what it promises.

That is what a WA Liberal Government will do.
