"Hello everybody, Basil Zempilas with an update from the State Leader's Office.
Firstly, can I say how wonderful it was to see so many of you across the most recent weekend at State Conference, a wonderful level of engagement with our members. Great discussion, great debate, a number of great reports from our leadership and overall a wonderful feeling that the Liberal Party brand is on the way back here in Western Australia.
Since we last spoke, I'm sure you're well aware of the crisis that has engulfed WA Health. And we've been very proud at the Liberal Party, at a state level, to continue to prosecute the failings of this State government.
Roger Cook and the multiple health ministers who refuse to take responsibility. And only today we see another all-time record in ambulance ramping. That is just not good enough. And we continue to urge the State government to focus their priorities on the things that matter at the top of that list should be health. In particular, our hospitals. And we urge them.
Scrap that Burswood racetrack for $217.5 million and redirect that funding into our hospitals. And before I finish up, a shout out for my colleagues in the Upper House. It was Upper House Estimates last week and a number of significant revelations about the way this government is conducting themselves emerged from that process.
We learnt that the winter surge plan for our state hospitals was only put in place two days before winter began. Simply not good enough. That lazy land that has occupied the areas around Metronet, well, it continues to be looked after by lazy ministers. Not a single house development on that lazy land near Metronet.
Just finally, talk about overreach and overspending from this State government, we've learnt through the estimates process that the Premier's office across at Parliament House and up the road at Dumas House has increased by 41% over the last four years. There are now 33 staff members working for the Premier. What are they doing? They certainly haven't lifted their output by 41%.
Thanks for joining us again. Thanks for being engaged. And thanks for being such wonderful Liberals."
