MESSAGE FROM THE STATE PRESIDENT

The result in the Federal Election is neither the result we expected or hoped for, and I appreciate that many within the party are disappointed we were not able to make up the electoral ground we wanted.
Senator Cash has penned an insightful analysis and update on the result. I do not intend to repeat what she has said save that WA is the only state in which the Labor primary vote went backwards and we had the smallest 2PP swing against us of any state in the country.
What I will say is: thank you.
Thank you to our candidates for your commitment to our values and for the sacrifices you made representing our great party, determined to serve your community and protect the future prosperity of this wonderful country.
Thank you for the enormous efforts that our campaign teams, many state candidates/MPs and Party members who turned around straight after the State Election and got back on the tools to fight the Federal Election. To run two election campaigns within mere weeks is such a notable effort in itself.
Thank you to our staff at HQ who were not only committed to preparing for the election and running our ground game during the campaign but who have also largely spent last week scrutineering vote counts.
Thank you to our donors, many who gave more than once and many who supported both our state and federal campaigns. We do not have the unions to fund us – we rely on the generosity of good Liberals.
Thank you to our senior officeholders for working across campaigns to assist where you could – and a special thank you to Finance Chair, Alice O’Donnell, for your extraordinary effort in assisting me with central fundraising efforts.
Thank you to our returning MPs for delivering their seats, Ben Small for retaining Forrest as a non-incumbent candidate, and to our Senators for fundraising and chairing local campaigns. You are our future. You are our representatives in Canberra.
While our rebuild in WA has greatly improved the organisational culture there is still much to do in a community engagement sense. That simply must be our focus going forward. As with our rebuild at state level, we must once against work to convince Western Australians that we are a credible alternative government.
Liberal party values are timeless and enduring. We can and must regroup. The future of our country depends on it.
