It is time for the Premier to Lead

It is becoming increasingly clear that Premier Roger Cook is failing to provide the leadership that WA deserves.  West Australians are facing challenges ranging from growing homelessness, a housing crisis and industrial unrest in the Pilbara.  Our state is not receiving the strong leadership it needs.

Last week, I visited Memorial Drive in Safety Bay and I was saddened to see a growing number of people living on the roadside.  On my visit I was fortunate enough to meet mother of four Deb.  Three months ago, Deb lost her husband to cancer and is now living in tents with her children.  No family should have to face a situation like this, especially after a decade of the Labor Government's record revenue.

At the same time, home completions in Western Australia have fallen behind its Housing Accord Target by 8000 homes.  WA Labor's housing policies have failed to keep up with demand, leaving families facing soaring rents, fewer homes and home ownership falling out of reach.

On Thursday for the first time in decades, workers are expected to walk off the job in the Pilbara.  Industrial action of this scale is projected to cost our state $7 million dollars each day of strike, which is disastrous for the prosperity of all.  Under Roger Cook's leadership the union influence has grown whilst the Premier has remained missing in action.  West Australians deserve a Premier who represents the best interests of all, not just his union mates.

The WA Liberal team and I are focused on what matters most to Western Australians: tackling the housing crisis, supporting families, the economy and providing WA with the leadership it needs to keep moving forward.  We are committed to holding the Cook Labor Government to account and will push for practical solutions that put West Australians first.
